What Really Happened at Calvary?

They all inspiring Holiness of Jesus Christ did in Calvary cross is summed up in these beautiful and well known words from Gospel of John.  For God so loved the world.
John 3: 16

That he gave his only behind son.  That who show ever believed that him should not finish but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his son into the world to comtemp the word.  But the would through him might be saved.  We know that on a dreadful day may unbelievable things happened and innocent man was condeniened to die.  He had committed no cry, he was beaten with in breath of his life, and then forced carry his cross to the execution killed called “Golgotha” or it is known in the English language “the place of the skill”.  There he was cresify with two common thieves.  He was surrounded by many woman revailing him, mocking him changeling him.

Many of him just days earlier had healed him with palm answers branches and words of worship as the biblical messiah.  Soldiers cambled for his clothing, he cried out to God, he conversed with one of the thieves and he spoke of paradise.  And cqua earth quake shook the city the sky grew black, the sun refused to shone.  The certain in the temple was torn from top to bottom.  The city when in a confusion at keyas.  At the 9th hour for 3 pm.  He cried out it is finished.  Later the afternoon the spear was thrust into the sight no need for the spearsing, he was already dead.  He was taken out of the cross and placed burial garden to just a few 100 yards from the cresifiction site of course we know that the Gloriess message of the Gospel is that three days later he loused from at grave.  Just as he said he word to prone to the word that he was and his God with us.  The long avaided, messiah, savious of all who believe.  These things we know happened calvary.  But in the next few minutes your witness amazing things that happened at Calvary, there often misunderstood or entirely overlook or together.  Yet these things are centro to I foe understanding all that happened on that day.

There are centro to I follow understanding of the scripture itself.  After you are witness this film, you are never view Calvary’s cross and the word of God in the same way again.  Prepare to be astounded after the depth of the details of that yet for the glories day.

One of the most enomous things happened that day one of the most moven full phrases that Jesus hearded that was a heart creanching cry ,y God my God.  Why have you for saken me.  Jesus altually spoke these cords in Aeremic. “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?”  where this was happening they had just driven the nails.  The soliders were now gambling for his clothing the crowds and religions leaders were hearing the insults.  The mocking temptations are of if you are Christ come down of the cross and delivered yourself.

The Roman soldiers looked down and this day.  Why did Jesus speak this specific words.  Did, Jesus really think that some have father ahd saken him or turned his back on him was Jesus really wondering where the father was.  Could it really be the Jesus really desered by his father at his greatest point of need.

Why did would Jesus have asked such a question with so much surprise and his voices if to say that he did not know that this moment of dissertion was coming.  He is true that this day was no audients.  Isn’t true that scripture declare is that Jesus was the lam[‘s slamb from foundation of the world.  If there is so and did is then why would Jesus seemingly have actged his though he would know that the father would forsake him.  These questions have hunted Christians and bible scholars for centuries.  But they need not there is a simple believable astounding biblical explanation of all this.

The understanding language forever change of you have what Jesus said what he meant and what was actually happened in that day.  First consider this important fact.  The scripture of Jesus day what was we know as the old Testament.  The Jews called this collection of low and prophecy or the word of word or simply the scriptures.  The division of these words into chapter’s verses were not come into centries after Jesus time.  It is also a fact one of the common Jewish method’s for referring to specific passage of scriptures minus the system of chapter’s or verses as to refer to that passage by perceeding its first verse.  We see reverence of this in the New Testament, when it records in Luke chapter 4 verse 16 and follow.  That Jesus went into synagogue having been invaded to had and come into the scriptures he has scroll of Isaiah and then, he found the place where it is written the bible says.  The spirit of the Lord is upon me, and so on.  Clearly it first lines reference to a specific passage scripter they did not yet modern chapters and verses apply to it.  Before we reveal the biblical meaning and purpose of Jesus word My God! My God why have you Forsaken me.  Let us also consider the biblical flow of most old Testament prophecy often of prophet was in the spirit his woud’s with speak of some current event in his life or the nation of Israel’s life but then the prophecy would be interspersed with vision’s are revelation of some future event.  Chees of which would be that the prophet was speaking it was clearly that the things is spoke up and not happen to him or the nation of Israel.  This is true of much of king David’s life.  As he was often called up in the prophetic spirit of God.  Now about to the matter of him.  My God My God why you have forsaken me?  It happens to be a first plan of a prophetic scripture.  It is the first verse of Psalm 22.  When one reach the entirety of the Psalm one can clearly see the paradise in David’s life but strangely in this prophecy, he speaks that never happened to him.  So who is he speaking him, it is clear that he is having a vision of the Christ who was to come.  And the specific’s of his suffering as we examine this scripture passage of Psalm 22.  We will look at those parts that the clearly prophetic clearly speak of the coming Messiah.  David’s wrote these words 1000 years before Jesus came listen to them.

PSALM 22

My God, My God, why have you

forsaken me?

But I am a Worm and not a man.

Scorned by men and despised by

the people.

All who see me mock me; they hurt

insults, shaking their heads.

My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? But I am a Worm and not a man.  Scorned by men and despised by the people.  All who see me mock me; they hurt insults, shaking their heads.

He treests in the LORD, let the

LORD resline him.  Let him deliver

him, since he delights in him.

Many bruls surround me; strong

bulls of Bashan encircle me.

Roaring lions tearing their prey

open their mouths wide against

one. I am poured out like water …

He treests in the LORD, let the LORD resline him.  Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.  Many bruls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.  Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against one. I am poured out like water.

and all my bones are out of joint.

My heart has turned to wax; it has

melted away within me.  My

strength is dried up like a

potsherd, my tongue sticks to the

roof of my mouth: you lay me in

the dust of death.  Dogs have

surrounded me;

and all my bones are out of joint.  My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth: you lay me in the dust of death.  Dogs have surrounded me.

a hand of evil men has encireled

me.  They have piexced my hands

and my fect.  I can count all my

bones people stare and gloat

over me.  They divide my

garments among them and cast

lots for my clothing. (NIV)

a hand of evil men has encireled me.  They have piexced my hands and my fect.  I can count all my bones people stare and gloat over me.  They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.

Amaring, everything that was happening to Jesus at this very moment had been prophecied 1000 years early and exacting details.   mocking the very would of the end sounds the crouds surrounding him and his agany, his thirst the piercing of his hands and fect only through crusifition with this happen David wrote this words on 1000 B.C. crusifition in this foam would not be perfected until Roman times nearly in 900 years later and then chocking, even the prophecy of the soliders.  Gambling for his clothing under his fect was induded.

Jesus was not angry at God that day he was not confused, God had not turned back to his son.  Jesus was not wondering where God was.  What was Jesus doing he was refecing the people were they do a specific passage of scripture.  A specific prophecy in modern vernacular he world be saying open your bible and Psalm 22 and read those prophercies and then you are know what you are doing then you are known who I am.  Amazingly the Gospel records that after Jesus said these things , all of the offence that happened cried out surely this was the son of God.  But how the Roman’s symptocium have known in Jewish scriptures.  Historian tell s this was actually quite common in biblical times and many Roman authors pride at themselves in knowing religious writings of the people however whichthey ruled.  Also history in the bible records that some Roman officers even centerion became believe in the God of the Jews would have known the scriptures.  This is reverenced in Peter visit Cornelius.

Cornelius was a God fearing centurian who wanted to know more about Jesus.  Some have speculated that, he was even the very same centurion who cried out the cross that there.  Surely this was the son of God.  What about notion that God could not look up the sin placed on Jesus and father turned his back on his son.  Psalm 22 answers this questions for as it well.  In Psalm 22: 24

Psalm 22: 24

For he has not despised or

disdained the suffering of the

afflicted one; he has not

hidden his face from him but

has listened to his cry for

help. (NIV)

For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. The bible is cleary, God the father did not turned his back on God the son.  He did not high his face from him holy him.  But was with him the whole time just as a plan from the beginning and then the final words of the Psalm or similar to the very cast words of Jesus cried out upon Calvary’s cross.  Verse 30.

Psalm 22: 30

Posterity will serve him;

future generation will be told

about the lord.  They will

proclaim his righ teocesness to

a people yet unborn – for he

has done it. (NIV)

Posterity will serve him; future generation will be told about the lord.  They will proclaim his righ teocesness to a people yet unborn – for he has done it.  Jesus cried out his very last words it is finished.

IT IS

FINISHED!

When Jesus cried out My God My God why have you forsaken me.  He was declaring that moment, once again he was fulfilling prophecy.  This time a 1000 years properchy fulfilled in exacting details peoring to the world that he was the Messiah.  God the son, God with us.  Upon he is cry and seeing the events of that day.  Roman officer to million with Jewish scriptures yet his needs and declared surey we have just crucify the son of God, and now you know what really happened in Calvary.

THE GREAT

HIGH

PRIEST

In the ancient temple worship rituals of the Jewish people the high priests played the pivot role.  He represented God himself to the people the high priest admini responsibilities with perhaps the most enoenious died he perform was that duty executed on that great day at atornenoment.  The day of atanment was one of the just before the final feast of toberrnacle.  On the day of adornment the high priest went into the most holy place or the holy glories.  The part of the temple there was behind the way, behind this way the mark of conrent representing the very presence of God, with his people.  On this most holy day the day of adornment, the ligh priest with inter begin the way.  He would carcy with him the blood sacrifice to sprinkle upon the yalk this blood sacrifice would corer the sins of the nation and the people.  It was a dreadful date we celebrated with reference and or high priest had to be meantaculasily prepare his own sins had to be atourfull.  He had to be a pecial clothing the cuemony was to be conducted the yalk most of humality and supereation.  If this ceremony were not conducted in a holy mamer and cotens with a level of the lord given by God.  The priest could be step down it was sins would be unforgiven and subject to the word of God.  The bible declares that himself the Jesus himself is know the great high priest as declared in Hebrew chapter 4.

Hebrew 4: 14

Therefore, since we have a

great high priest who has gone

through the heavens, Jesus the

son of God, let us hold firmly to

the faith we profess.

(NIV)

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  It was Jesus presentation of has own bold in his own perfect sinless body upon the cross that adjust for our adornment and our attention before God the father.  Hebrew chapter 9 declares about this

Hebrew 9: 11-12

When Christ came as High Priest

of the good things that are already

here, he went through the greater

and more perfect tabernacle that

is not man-made, that is to say, not

a part of this creation.

When Christ came as High Priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.

He did not enter by means of

the blood of goats and calves;

but he entered the most Holy

place once for all by his own

blood, having obtained eternal

redemption

(NIV)

He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the most Holy place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

But the Book of Hebrews and chapter 2 begains the discourse of high priested of Jesus with some sticking and often over looked words.  The Book of Hebrew declares that has some point in Jesus ministry he became our high priest

Jesus

“BECAME”

Our High Priest

          Listen to Hebrew chapter2

Hebrew 2: 17

For this reason he had to be

made like has brothers in every

way, in order that he might

BECOME a merciful and

faithful High Priest in service

to God…

For this reason he had to be made like has brothers in every way, in order that he might BECOME a merciful and faithful High Priest in service to God.

and that he might make

atonement for the sins of

the people.

(NIV)

and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. What is the scripture mean when it is says that he became our high priest. Here was another mystery what really happened at Calvary his reveled to us.  The book of levitices set out many of the laws of the priest and temple worship.  The setails of the day atonement are laid out his word.  But again often over look details tells the story of Calvary.  Listen to Leveitces chapter 16

Leviticees  16: 32-33

The Priest who is anointed and

ordained to succeed his FATHER

as HIGH Priest is to make

atonement.  He is to put on the

sacred liven garments and make

atonement for the most Holy

place…

The Priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his FATHER as HIGH Priest is to make atonement.  He is to put on the sacred liven garments and make atonement for the most Holy place.

for the Tent of meeting and

the alter, and for the Priests

and all the people of the

community.

for the Tent of meeting and the alter, and for the Priests and all the people of the community.  So when the great high priest is ready to relingusih the full authority of the position of the priested.  He relinginishes to his son and he does not give a over on just a day at any time the son became the great high priest on another the day of atonement.  First act as the new great high priest when the son represents the father is to present the blood sacrifice.  He must make a atonement for the people.  2000 years ago one Golgata Hills Jesus came our great high priest.  But presenting his own blood.  His own blood as the perfect and final offering, he prepare mentaculoty for thos very day.  Right down making that he had on that seamless undergone ment want try the high priest on the day of atonement.  It was thus gone for which the soliders came would.  He willingly became our sacrifice the perfect plan of God.  Not to take away our sins for one year take them away forever.  All who would repend and believe on him.  All who would repend and believe on him the sins will be forgiven.  At the moment of his death, and earth quake shook the city the people ran from the temple and proclaiming that the temple wale torn from top to bottom, exposing the holy of holiness, the way to God was to now open, father now odaine that the sun should fully represent to the people.  Jesus has now become our great high priest and the law of levit 16 has been fulfilled in end.

“… and the priest who is

anointed to succeed his

father shall become the

Great High Priest”.

Leviticus 16

The pass over law of exodus prescribe that the Passover lamp was chosen by each family of tenth day of missing.  This was the first month of Jewish calendar year.  They would to choose the lamb on tenth day and slade and come soon the sacrificial on the fourteenth day.  Virtually every bible scholar and his a historiyan in the Greek man that the 10th day missing in Jesus sacrifice feel on the exactly the Sunday he went into Jerusalem on Sunday on the 10th day of the Matthew 2000 years ago the people chose a land.  The hail him as the king messiah.  The lamb was now chosing but exactly 4 days later on the 14th days of the month they had a ranged of this slap sacrified they been had killed him on Calvary’s cross.  Little did they know that in Jesus of Nazareth that be in very act fulfilling the pass over laws of the God.  This scriptures declared that the very last words of Jesus in a lenglish of it is finished.  We know of course the Jesus did not mean his life was rawshed because the three days later he would reite from greve and prop to the world that he was indeed who had said he was the long avaided Messiah.  God with us our one and only way of Salvation of he did mean say it is finished.  The obrious biblical answer is there he meant that God’s plan of Salvation and redentption of mankind was now complete.  The work of God which purchases our Salvation is now finished.  Every old testament prophecy concerning the first coming of the Christ and his work of Salvation was now added a paths prophecy was fulfilled the plan was complete it is now finished.  Again often unknown and thus over load by many students of the word.  The scripture declares the Jesus spoke his last word it is finished.  Being his very last words at the 9th hour and exactly the ninth hour.

Why was this detail included in the scripture.  What was so important about noting that it is finished was declared at the 9th hour.  First one most understanding ancient Jewish vacant any time.  The ancient Jewish mock time with beginning with first hour of each day.

The day begins with

the FIRST hour

6 AM

For them there was equiralent to 2 hour 6 AM.  Approximately the first moment of Thailand thus the 12th hour for latter first movement of darkness would fall at above hour 6 PM.

The day ends with

the TWELETH hour

6 PM

12 hours later.  12 hours from then the cycle would start again with the first hour of 6 AM of the next morning.  The during hours from the Jewish first hour 6AM means the Jesus Christ cried the last words it is finished.

The NINTH hour would be …

6PM

and at right above 3 PM.  What is so significance about this 3PM time.  The Gospel writer certainly thought certainly that it was important time to specifically indicate that this was the hour that Jesus cried out his last words.  But there is a good reason for it inclusion and amanous reason and a holy reason.  Because you see on thos afternoon.  It was the afternoon, before the evening they became the Passover sabbeth.  That would be gave that the 6PM that very night.  At 6PM every good Jew would be seeded after the tables of became the Passover man.  They would be eating the meat of Passover lamb.  The Passover lamb represented the perfect male lamb with out blamesh.  There was prescribed by the exodus commandment for the slave children of Israel who were to live in captivery some 1200 years earlier.

In that exodus like the blood of the lamb and sprinkled the doors of the home that night all where in those homes under the blood of lamb would be Passover or saved for the coming rath and Judgement of God and the people rather than they lived.  The Passover feast was then declare by God belasting for the Jews to remaining that they would save that night, by the blood of the lamb.

Now about to the cross, Jesus of course the ultimate Passover lamb he is the lamb takes away the sins of the world.  And it is by the blood of the land that all who come are saved.  Jesus is the real Passover lamb being slamed.  But again what was the importance of 3PM time.  For the previous 1200 years on the afternoon just before the Passover the celebration at 6PM.  The priest were blow the sofan around 3PM.  The movement the last lamb sacrificed on the alter at the temple.  The priest would cried out it is now complete it is finished.  He did this and 3PM.

This served for 3 purposes it would declared that sacrifice.

          was now over and complete

1.    The Sacrifices

were how complete

2.    Three hours

were left before

Passover begins.

And it would incidate to the people that they have 3 hours make sure that they were in their homes and thus begins with Passover law.

3.    Was an official time

of the contemplation of

their sin.

Third, at 3PM all the people with passed comtemplate with sacrifice of their sins and behalf the people of Isareal.  On Passover ever at 3 PM when Jesus was being crucified, he declare it is finished at the movement and the Passover lamb were sacrificed.  In the temple and the sofar blow from the temple penicle at the movement that the priest proclaimed it is now complete, the sacrifice of the lamb of God to filled at the very hour symbolic like animal sacrifice useally took place at the sametime the whale of the temple too from top to bottom.  Representing a remoral of the separation betheen God and man.  50 days later on the anniversary of the given of the lord at Pentecostal.  God left from the carthly temple to have a those who called the name of Jesus Christ through his holy spirit and church is borned.  Jesus the lamb of God, chosen by the people in accordance with the law on the 10th day of morning.  He was sacrificed in accordance with the law 14th day of nusing and the prist was declared that the sacrifices was now complete Jesus chose the moment.  The exact time the scripture says to give up his oun spirit and then declared our plan as the hew wish priest of the universe it is now finished.  These words are spoken in accordance the law.  The prophecy were now completed the law was now fulfilled the lamb of the God had been slanied.  The blood that says was sherd the world and history would be for ever changed the way to God was opened for mankind the holy of holiness now avail to any into our we will save Jesus I surrender my life to you, you are the lamb of the God and it is was really happened at Calvary.
