THE CROSS

The cross is one of the earliest and most widely used images of Christianity.  The cross of Jesus tells a story with one single picture.  The cross takes our minds to the Roman crucifixions that were savage ways to kill people during the time of Christ.  There are many moving quotes about the cross that come from the Bible but also from many other authors throughout the years.  For me, a follower of Jesus Christ, the cross makes me thankful, forgiven, blessed, accepted by God, and just blessed because of Jesus Christ.  Every time I pray, I begin my prayer with something like… “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the Lord Jesus Christ.”  Every prayer I am thankful for Jesus becoming my sacrifice on the brutal cross.  He died a heinous death so that I (and all who accept the free gift of salvation) might live forever with God some day.  This article was sobering to write as I again wrestle with the amazing gift of Jesus being the sacrifice for me willingly on a cross over 2000 years ago.  I hope these quotes move you to thank God today for Jesus.
